ROCHESTER, Mich. – Alexandra Whall had a huge win at No. 5 singles 6-1, 2-6, 6-4 that went on to secure a 5-2 win for Oakland tennis over Milwaukee Sunday from Bloomfield Tennis & Fitness.
 
After falling behind in doubles play and Milwaukee taking the point, and an early 1-0 lead, the Golden Grizzlies (9-7, 3-1 HL) rallied to win five out of six singles matches.
 
Ava Thielman won her seventh straight No. 1 singles match to improve to 12-4 on the season, and a perfect 4-0 in Horizon League action. Thielman's 12 wins is the most singles wins in the conference. The sophomore defeated Milwaukee's Alexandra Belle 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 to give Oakland the fifth and final point of the afternoon.
 
Darya Maltseva, 
Dasha Artamonova and 
Sofia Borcuti won their respective matches in straight sets to help guide Oakland to its second straight win.
 
The Golden Grizzlies continue Horizon League play next weekend and will travel to take on Cleveland State Saturday, March 6 and Youngstown State Sunday, March 7.
