
ROCHESTER, Mich. – The Oakland Softball Team was originally slated to take on Northern Kentucky at home in what would be the home opener, however, due to weather and field conditions, the conference series has been moved to Highland Heights. The Golden Grizzlies will still act as the home team, batting in the bottom half of each inning. Friday's doubleheader is scheduled for 2 & 4 pm while Saturday's first pitch is slotted for 12 pm.
NOTES
- The Golden Grizzlies offense ranks second in the league in overall batting average with a strong .305, just .004 points behind UIC.
- Brittney Miller continues to rank fourth in the league in average with .431 and second in on-base percentage with .523
- The ever-so consistent Kelsie Swanson ranks second in the league in runs scored with 25 and second in the league in triples with three.
- Brittney Miller leads Oakland with 31 hits, also ranking fifth in the league. Both Kelsie Swanon and Jessie Munson are creeping up in the standings as Swanon ranks eighth (30) and Munson ninth (29).
- Jamie Squires ranks sixth in the league and first for the Golden Grizzlies in RBI's.
- Lauryn Debono ranks fourth in the league in opposing battering average as she has held her opponents to a .256 average. She also ranks second in the league in saves.
- The Golden Grizzlies are coming off of a 2-1 series loss to the Detroit Titans, they now hold a 1-5 record in Horizon League play.
- In the last two games of the Detroit series, Shannon Carr led the way as she recorded a .429 average with three hits, two RBI and her first home run of the year. Her timely homer tied game two at five runs and allowed her team the leeway they needed to make a comeback and win.
- Last season, Oakland took down the Norse in series 2-0 win by scores of 5-3 and 3-1.
- Northern Kentucky currently holds a 7-19 overall record, while they are 0-3 in conference play as they dropped three games opening weekend to IUPUI.
