ROCHESTER, Mich. -- The Oakland softball team will kick off the 2018 season Friday Feb. 15^th-17^th at the Gardner-Webb Runnin' Bulldog Softball Tournament. The Golden Grizzlies will take on Loyola and Hartford on Friday in back to back 10 am and 12 pm games, Sacred Heart and Gardner-Webb on Saturday at 10 am and 12 pm, and Loyola again Sunday morning at 10 am. All games will have live stats available. 

NOTES

• The Golden Grizzlies will return Madison Jones, last season's Horizon League Freshman of the Year, First Team All-League and All-Freshmen Team honoree. They also return All-League members: Kelsie Swanson and Jessie Munson.
• Oakland finished their 2018 season by winning 11 out of their last 15 games to close out the regular season. The Golden Grizzlies placed runner-up at the Horizon League Tournament falling to UIC 3-1.
• Oakland has won its last two season openers and has recorded back-to-back season opening wins for the first time since 2006 and 2007
• Oakland has five newcomers who are looking to make a quick difference on the field. Newcomers include: Hannah Chadwell, Arieanna Grammatico, Lauren Griffith, Sidney Rayba and Kayla Gibson.
• Head Coach Lauren Karn enters her second season at the helm of the softball team. Last season she lead the team to a 23-27 record.
