CHICAGO - Ben Hart and Ryan Fitzgerald each hit 2-for-4 with a RBI and a pair of runs scored respectively as Oakland battled hard but fell 4-3 in the late innings during the first game of a doubleheader on Friday at Curtis Granderson Stadium. The Golden Grizzlies also had a 8-1 setback in the nightcap.

After falling behind 3-0 in the fourth inning, Tyler Trovinger had a RBI single in the sixth followed by a pair of RBI singles in the top of the eighth from Hart and Myles Zilinsky to tie the score at 3-3.

However in the bottom half the eighth, Oakland had trouble turning a double play allowing a UIC runner to move into scoring position who was eventually driven in to give the Flames the lead for good.

In the nightcap, Oakland's offense was held in check as Trovinger went 2-for-4 while Mario Camilletti and Ronnie Krsolovic each recorded a hit. The Golden Grizzlies scratched in a run off a sacrifice fly from Austin Tangney in the top of the ninth.

Oakland and UIC will conclude the series on Sunday, March 25 at 1:05 p.m. ET.
