INDIANAPOLIS - Oakland tennis student-athlete Allison Motea was named Horizon League Women's Tennis Singles Player of the Week as announced by the league office on Tuesday. The is the second consecutive week the tennis team has earned the weekly league honor.
Motea, a sophomore from Birmingham, Mich., went a perfect 3-0 at the No. 3 singles position helping Oakland to a 3-0 road swing record against Omaha, Lewis and Chicago State. She grinded out two three-set wins against Omaha's Marie Kapelevich (6-2, 4-6, 6-2) and Lewis' Oana Carmen Trus (4-6, 6-2, 10-7) while defeating Chicago State's Lorena Gamboa in straight sets (6-0, 6-1).
Oakland travels to Ypsilanti, Mich. for a match against instate foe Eastern Michigan on Friday, March 16 at 1 p.m.
