GAINSVILLE, Fla. -- Madison Jones went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and scored a run as the Oakland softball team dropped game one of its doubleheader at No. 1 Florida 6-2 Wednesday evening at Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium.

Freshmen Chelsea Wiggins got the start for the Golden Grizzlies and went 4.1 innings in the circle then gave way to Emily Karas who pitched the final 1.2 innings, allowing just two hits.

Jessie Munson also went 1-for-3 and scored a run.

In the second game, Oakland was held to just two hits, one by Jones and the other from Mikayela Marciniak.

The Golden Grizzlies will travel to Charlotte, N.C. for the 49ers Classic hosted by Charlotte. Game one of the tournament will take place Friday, Feb. 23 at 11 a.m. against Towson, followed by a 4 p.m. game against the host 49ers.
