
ROCHESTER, Mich. – The Oakland baseball team announced its 2019 schedule which includes home games against in-state foes Eastern Michigan and Central Michigan along with a home opening series against Northern Kentucky and regular season finale against defending Horizon League champion Wright State.
Oakland opens the season with a 20-game road swing beginning at Western Carolina (Feb. 15-17) and Morehead State (Feb. 21-24).
"We are very excited to get the 2019 campaign started with a competitive slate of non-conference games to open the year jumping right into the thick of things playing seven games in the first week of the season," said Co-Head Coach
Colin Kaline.
The non-conference schedule also includes five schools from the Mid-American Conference (MAC) beginning with Miami (Ohio) (Mar. 1-3), Bowling Green (Mar. 12), Toledo (Apr. 16) and home and away games against Eastern Michigan (Apr. 3, 10) and Central Michigan (Apr. 9, May 7). The Golden Grizzlies will also travel to Michigan State (4.23).
"The guys always look forward to playing mid-week games against in-state foes Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan and Michigan State," added Kaline. "The Horizon League should also be very competitive this year and we are excited to get started."
The Golden Grizzlies begin Horizon League play at UIC (Mar. 15-17) and Youngstown State (Mar. 22-24). Oakland hosts NKU in home opening series action (Mar. 29-31) followed by Milwaukee (Apr. 5-7), UIC (Apr. 18-20), YSU (Apr. 26-28) and Wright State (May 16-18).
