CHICAGO-- Tyler Palm tossed 7.0 innings allowing four earned runs and striking out two batters as the Oakland baseball team was bested by UIC Friday evening 5-1 at Curtis Granderson Stadium.

The Golden Grizzlies were held scoreless until the ninth inning when Zach Sterry hit a solo shot to left field for his sixth home run of the season, extending his streak of reaching base safely to 21 games. Game two will begin tomorrow at 4:05 p.m. ET.
