VALPARAISO, Ind. - Kelsie Swanson hit 2-for-3 with a three-run triple and four total RBIs while Lauren Mead added three RBIs propelling the Oakland softball team (20-19, 13-8 HL) to a 12-2 win in five innings and series sweep over defending Horizon League champion Valparaiso on Saturday at the Valpo Softball Complex.

Jamie Squires hit 2-for-3 with her team leading sixth home run and a RBI triple while Mikayela Marciniak and Lauren Pletscher each added RBIs.

Erin Kownacki picked up her third win of the series with five strikeouts in 3.0 innings of work while Haley Zemmer tossed 2.0 innings in relief.

Oakland broke the game open in the second inning scoring seven runs highlighted by Mead's two-run single and a three-run triple from Swanson who actually scored on the play due to an Valpo error. The Golden Grizzlies also added four more runs in the fourth to seal the win.

Oakland returns home with a doubleheader against Eastern Michigan on Tuesday, May 2 at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.
