VALPARAISO, Ind. -- Emerson Misch went 4-for-5 with one RBI, two runs scored and a double while Tyler Pagano went 2-for-5 with four RBIs including a three-run home run as the Oakland baseball team defeated Valparaiso 9-6 Friday afternoon at Emory G. Field. On the mound, Tyler Palm tossed 7.0 innings allowing just one earned run.
After the Pagano homer in the first inning, the Crusaders got two runs back to cut the Golden Grizzlies' lead to 3-2 in the third inning. Zach Sterry blasted a solo homer to in the fifth while Tyler Janish tripled to score a run and Pagano hit a sacrifice fly to drive in another to extend the lead to 6-3. Valparaiso (13-19, 4-7) scored three runs to tie the game in the bottom of the ninth and send the contest into extra innings. Oakland (5-26, 3-8) put up three runs in the 10th after Spencer Yankle and Mike McGee singled in one RBI a piece then Misch put down a bunt to score Yankle.
