VALPARAISO, Ind. -- Connor Fannon struck out five batters in 5.0 innings allowing two earned runs as the Oakland baseball team fell to Valpo 7-6 Thursday night at Emory G. Bauer Field.

The Golden Grizzlies (4-26, 2-8) jumped out to a 6-2 lead heading into the bottom of the eighth, but the Crusaders (13-18, 4-6) rallied with a five-run inning to take a 7-6 lead.

Zach Sterry led Oakland with two hits, while Emerson Misch and Tyler Pagano tallied two RBI.

Oakland continues the series against Valpo Friday at 2 p.m.
