TOLEDO, Ohio -- Connor Fannon struck out a career-high seven batters in 5.0 innings allowing three earned runs as the Oakland baseball team fell to Toledo 8-5 Wednesday night at Mercy Field.
Spencer Yankle got the Golden Grizzlies (3-19, 1-2 HL) on the board first with a RBI-single in the top of the second inning, but the Rockets (6-19, 0-3 MAC) responded with three runs in the bottom of the inning. Tyler Pagano drove in his 13th RBI of the season the next inning with a base hit, then Mike McGee drove in two runs in the fourth inning to give Oakland a 4-3 lead.
Tyler Trovinger walked with the bases loaded in the sixth inning to extend the lead to 5-3, however, Toledo scored five unanswered runs to come away with the win. Oakland will resume Horizon league play by traveling to Wright State this weekend for a three-game series.
