YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Mikayela Marciniak went 1-for-3 with a RBI single while Jamie Squires hit a double as the Oakland softball team dropped the series finale at Youngstown State, 6-1, on Saturday afternoon.
Lyndsay Hill and Devon Smith also went 1-for-3 while Haley Zemmer recorded two strikeouts in the circle.
Marciniak delivered a two-out RBI single to score Hill in the top of the sixth inning to cut YSU's lead to 3-1. The Golden Grizzlies loaded the bases after Smith's single and walk by Brittney Miller but could not capitalize leaving the runners stranded.
YSU then broke the game open with three runs in the bottom of the sixth to take a 6-1 lead en route to the win.
Oakland will host Northern Kentucky in the home opener on Friday, March 31 at 3 p.m.
