2016 ABCA/Rawlings Division I All-Region Teams

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Oakland University shortstop Mike Brosseau has been named to the All-Mideast Region second team by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) presented by Rawlings, announced the organization on Wednesday. Brosseau becomes the first Oakland player since Robby Enslen in 2014 and third in the Division I era to be named All-Region.

Brosseau, a native of Portage, Ind., was selected to the All-Horizon League first team this season. He was tops in the Horizon League in on-base percentage (.456) and ranked second in both home runs (10) and slugging percentage (.571), while he also finished top-10 in the conference in batting average (.354) and runs scored (49). In addition, he led the Golden Grizzlies this year in walks (27), stolen bases (8) and was second in RBIs (33). He was named Horizon League Batter of the Week on May 2.

Brosseau is one of six Horizon League players to be named to an All-Region team joining David Cronin from UIC, Ryan Fucci from Wright State and Brian Keller from Milwaukee on the second team, while UWM's Daulton Varsho and WSU's Jesse Scholtens were selected to the first team. Earlier this week, Brosseau signed a free agent contract with the Tampa Bay Rays.
