ROCHESTER, Mich. - Haley Zemmer went the distance with a season second-best seven strikeouts while hitting 1-for-3 with a two-run double to lift Oakland past Cleveland State, 3-1, in the second leg of a doubleheader on Wednesday evening. Danielle Szajna also hit her first career home run sending the first game into extra innings where the Golden Grizzlies would fall in 10 innings, 5-2.
With the Oakland trailing 2-1 in the bottom of the seventh, Szajna belted a solo shot over the right center field wall to tie the game. Kaley Waalkes put in solid work in the circle going 9.1 innings with four strikeouts while Sarah Hartley hit 3-for-5 to lead Oakland offensively.
Kelsie Swanson sparked the come from behind win in the night cap with a RBI double to score Hartley tying the game at 1-1 in the sixth inning. Zemmer's double came with two outs to score Swanson and Carah Pletscher giving the Golden Grizzlies a 3-1 lead.
