ROCHESTER, Mich. -- Tied at 3-3, senior Karine Celis won in three sets 4-6, 6-4 and 6-2 to clinch the fourth point for the Oakland tennis team as they defeated first-place UIC 4-3 on senior day at the Oakland Tennis Courts. Coming into the match, the Flames boasted a perfect 6-0 record in league play. Also winning singles matches were senior Tamara Blum (6-2, 6-3) and freshman Daria Artamonova (7-6, 7-6). In doubles play, the senior teams of Blum and Elizabeth Guy won 6-4, while Celis and Juliana Guevara won 6-2.
The Golden Grizzlies will close out their regular season at Detroit on April 23 at noon, as part of the Metro Series driven by Trinity Transportation.
