First is Alli Gutschow
Alli is accompanied by her parents Rose and Steve Gutschow
This season Alli became the seventh player in program history to surpass 1,000 career digs. She ranks inside the top-10 in career services aces and digs-per-set while also ranking top-10 for single-season sets-played, service aces and digs. Last season, she was just the sixth player in program history to join the 30-dig-club, recording a career-best 30 digs vs. Valparaiso in the Horizon League Tournament. Four years ago, she became the first freshman to reach "power standard", surpassing all maximum standards in the weight room.
Her favorite memory was having the crowd storm the court after the game-winning point of the Horizon League Tournament when Oakland clinched its first-ever championship. Head coach Rob Beam has this to say about Alli:
"Alli is the most gifted physical athlete I have ever coached and she has anchored our defense and serve reception for four years. It has been a privilege to see her make so many amazing plays, while also being committed to developing her game. As a person, Alli is bright, highly capable, compassionate, and has an adventurous spirit that makes her a great friend and teammate." Ladies and Gentlemen, Alli.
Next is Breann Reveley
She is accompanied by her father Rick Reveley
Bre's greatest accomplishments include being a part of the first Horizon League Championship team and NCAA Tournament team in school history. Bre currently serves as the President for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
Bre's favorite memories were last year's trip to California, getting to go in the ocean and also the Halloween haunted house the coaches set up for the team her freshman year. Head coach Rob Beam has this to say about Bre:
"Breann has embodied the concept of servant leadership for our program. Her selflessness and dedication has allowed her to play all three front row positions for us during her time. She is our SAAC president, has spearheaded our community service efforts, and been a "big sister" to our Team Impact Teammate, Hannah. Her intelligence, humor, and empathy shine through every day." Ladies and Gentlemen, Bre.
Next is Jessica Dood
Jessica is accompanied by her parents Nick and Denise Dood.
She was a part of the first team in program history to win a league title in 2014 and compete at the NCAA tournament. As junior, she recorded a career-high 18 kills against Eastern Illinois and last February had the opportunity to try-out for the U.S. National Volleyball Team in Colorado Springs. Coming into her senior year [Dode] ranked inside the top-10 in kills, kills-per-set, hitting percentage, total blocks and blocks-per-set. She and teammate Melissa Deatsch tied the school's single-season record in 2014 for sets played with 120.
Jessica's favorite memory was traveling back from Milwaukee and Green Bay her sophomore year playing karaoke, charades and other team bonding games until 5am.
Head coach Rob Beam has this to say about Jessica:
"Jessica has brought a physical presence unlike any other I have coached during my ten years at Oakland. No one has accounted for more spectacular moments or been a tougher match-up. I, like our fans, have both cheered for and been awed by her ability. As a person, Jess is fun, youthful, honest, and a joy to be around."
Ladies and Gentlemen, Jessica.
Next is Rachel Grier
Rachel is accompanied by her parents Lenora and Jason Grier and grandparents James and Betty Grier. During her time at Oakland, Rachel has been named to the Horizon League Academic Honor Roll twice and works as the Secretary of the Oakland Accounting Students Information Society, all while having played Division I volleyball the past four years. After graduation, she has earned the opportunity work at the worldwide KPMG corporation.
Rachel's favorite memory is her parents' dedication to watching all of her games even though they could not always be there.
Head coach Rob Beam has this to say about Rachel:
"Rachel has been a versatile player for our program since day one. She embraced her role of defensive specialist and clutch server, but has always maintained her ability to attack when needed. While this season was cut short because of a significant injury, it has highlighted her passion for her teammates, work ethic, and leadership qualities. She has always been intelligent and driven, but what has been most special is her willingness to grow and open up to her friends and coaches over her career."
Ladies and Gentlemen, Rachel.
Our final senior of the evening is Melissa Deatsch
Melissa is accompanied by her parents Dale and Martha Deatsch
Melissa will leave Oakland as one of the most decorated players in school history as she became just the second player ever to surpass 1,000 career kills and digs. This season she became the school's all-time leader in service aces while also breaking her own single-season service ace record. Deatsch, a 2015 All-Horizon League selection, currently leads the NCAA in services aces and ranks second nationally in aces per set.
Melissa's favorite memories at Oakland include winning the program's first ever conference championship, playing in the NCAA tournament in 2014 and breaking the single-season ace record as a freshman and senior.
Head coach Rob Beam has this to say about Melissa:
"Melissa has been the competitive heartbeat of our program for four years. As a player she has tremendous breadth to her skill, but her serve stands out as something special to have witnessed. She has been dedicated to her craft and has shown tremendous commitment to our program, her teammates, and her own growth. Her fiery personality on the court is only eclipsed by her humor and intelligence off of it." Ladies and Gentlemen, Melissa.
