LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Oakland University Volleyball team picked up its eleventh consecutive American Volleyball Coaches Association's (AVCA) Team Academic Award for the 2025-26 season, given to teams that maintained a year-long grade-point average of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale.

The Golden Grizzlies have earned the award 15 times and have placed themselves on the list now 11-straight years and 14 of the last 15. 10 of the 11 Horizon League teams were named to the list as a total of 1,432 collegiate and high school programs were honored.

"It comes as no surprise to see our sport have more than 1,400 teams earn the AVCA Team Academic Award again this season," said AVCA CEO Jaime Gordon. "We are grateful for the dedication of the coaches and players who make both classroom and on-court success the lifeblood of their programs."

Oakland opens its 2026 campaign with an exhibition game at Ferris State on August 15, before the team's open Black and Gold Scrimmage and another exhibition against Wayne State on the Blacktop August 21 and 22. The Golden Grizzlies officially kick off the season Friday, Aug. 28, against Binghamton at the Rocket Invitational in Toledo.
