FORMER OAKLAND STANDOUT PAULSON CALLED UP TO DAYTONA TORTUGAS

ROCHESTER, Mich. - Former Oakland baseball standout Jake Paulson has been called up to the Daytona Tortugas, the High-A affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds, announced the organization this week.

The right-handed pitcher from Wixom, Mich. spent all of 2015 with the Dayton Dragons, the single-A affiliate for the Reds, where he finished the season with a 2.60 ERA and a 8-5 record. Paulson threw 117.2 innings for Dayton, making 14 starts and striking out 92 batters. The Tortuags made the playoffs of the Florida State League with a 77-58 mark and will face the Clearwater Threshers in the FSL North Division Series.

Paulson played three years for the Golden Grizzlies before being drafted in 2014 by Cincinnati in the 27th round. He finished his career at Oakland with a 8-16 record all-time with a 4.11 ERA in 44 appearances, including 28 starts. In his final season Paulson posted a team-best 3.68 ERA in 66.0 innings and earned the second win over a ranked opponent in school history allowing just two runs in 6.1 innings with eight fanned batters at No. 18 Oklahoma State.
