ROCHESTER, Mich. - Oakland women's tennis player Tamara Blum has been named Oakland's Student-Athlete of the Week, for the week of Sept. 7-14, after winning two flight championships over the weekend at the Chicago State Invitational.
Blum, a native of Bietigheim-Bissingen, Germany, won her singles flight of the Chicago State Invitational on Sunday by a score of 6-3 and 6-1. She only dropped one set in three matches to capture the title. Blum, along with her partner Elizabeth Guy, won her doubles flight 6-1 for her second championship of the weekend. The tandem advanced to the finals by winning a pair of matches, 6-3 and 6-2, on Saturday.
The Golden Grizzlies will be back on the tennis court next month when they compete in the Western Michigan Invitational Oct. 9-11.
