ROCHESTER, Mich. - Ian Yetsko went 2-for-4 and drove in two runs, while Robby Enslen collected two hits as the Oakland baseball team (7-28, 4-18) dropped the series finale to Valparaiso (16-21, 12-8), 6-2, on Sunday from the Oakland Baseball Field.
Valparaiso jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the third inning as Jeff Edwards drove in a pair of runs with a single up the middle. The Crusaders added another run in the fourth inning on a RBI-double by Chad Jacob.
Oakland cut the lead to 3-2 in the fourth inning as Yetsko blasted a two-run double to center field bringing home Enslen and Trent Drumheller.
Valpo would respond with three-straight one-run innings led by Spencer Mahoney plating a run in the sixth on a single to right field and Dustin Beasley hitting a RBI-single in the seventh inning.
The Golden Grizzlies looked to cut the 6-3 lead in the eighth inning by loading the bases but Valpo's Trevor Haas would get the final out to hold Oakland off the board.
Nate Green suffered the loss allowing four runs on seven hits in 5.0 innings of work. Valpo's Ryan Fritze earned the winning tossing 7.0 innings allowing two runs on seven hits.
Oakland will return to the diamond next week when they travel to Kent State on Tuesday to take on the Golden Flashes beginning at 3 p.m.
