ROCHESTER, Mich. - Mike Brosseau and Ian Yetsko collected two hits each, while Robby Enslen drove in a run as the Oakland baseball team (7-27, 4-15) fell to Valparaiso (15-21, 11-8), 14-1, on Saturday from the Oakland Baseball Field.
Valparaiso jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the third inning as the Crusaders recorded six hits and capitalized on an Oakland error. Valpo added to its lead in the sixth inning with a four-run inning as Nate Palace and Chad Jacob hit back-to-back RBI-singles followed by a sacrifice fly off the bat of Giovanni Garbella to go up 10-0.
Oakland scored its lone run in the seventh inning as Tyler Janish was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning and came home on a sacrifice fly to center field by Enslen.
Aaron Dehn suffered the loss allowing five runs, three earned, on seven hits in 2.2 innings. Valpo's Mario Losi earned his fourth win of the season tossing 7.0 innings allowing one run on seven hits with five strikeouts.
The rubber match of this three-game Horizon League series will begin Sunday at 1 p.m. from the Oakland Baseball Field.
