VALPARAISO, Ind. - Four Oakland players won both their singles and doubles Sunday afternoon, including straight set wins by Tamara Blum, Elizabeth Guy and Juliana Guevara as the Golden Grizzlies defeated Valparaiso 6-1 at the Valpo Tennis Complex.

To start the day, Valparaiso (3-14, 1-5 Horizon League) looked to give the Golden Grizzlies fits by taking a win at No. 1 doubles, 6-3. But Oakland went on to take the first point with wins first by Guevara and Karine Celis at No. 3 doubles, 6-2, and then a 6-3 win by Blum and Guy at No. 2 doubles.

Oakland pressed on in singles play with victories at No. 6 and No. 5 singles, respectively. First, Guevara dispatched her foe with a convincing 6-1, 6-0 score; Theresa Elder then followed with her first singles win of the season with a 6-1, 6-1 straight-set victory.

Valparaiso proceeded to notch a point with a win at No. 1 singles, but Oakland answered by grabbing victories in the remaining singles matches. Blum was victorious at No. 3 singles with a 6-4, 6-3 straight-set result, while Guy needed a second-set tie-breaker to win in two, 6-4, 7-6 (7-0). Celis then wrapped up Oakland's effort with a come-from-behind win at No. 2 singles, 1-6, 7-5, 6-3.

Oakland returns home to conclude the 2015 regular season Saturday, April 18 when the Golden Grizzlies host Detroit at 12 p.m. Should weather permit, the contest will be held at Oakland's outdoor courts; if inclement weather prevails, the match will be held at the Bloomfield Tennis and Fitness Center.
