CHICAGO - Tamara Blum and Juliana Guevara posted singles wins Saturday afternoon as the Golden Grizzlies battled tough against Horizon League leading UIC before dropping a 5-2 decision at the Flames Outdoor Tennis Courts.

UIC (9-7, 5-0) got out to a quick lead with victories at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles to take the early point of the match.

In singles play, Guevara edged UIC's Melika LeBlanc in a close contest at No. 6 singles, 6-4, 7-6 (4-0). Blum then added a come-from-behind win at No. 3 singles, outlasting her foe 3-6, 6-4, 6-4.

Theresa Elder gave UIC's Bianca Zuzu all she could in a three-set setback, 3-6, 7-6 (2-0), 10-6.

The Golden Grizzlies will travel to Indiana to challenge Valparaiso Sunday, April 12.
