OAKLAND SPLITS DOUBLEHEADER AT UIC, 6-4 AND 4-14

March 21, 2015

Game 1 Box Score | Game 2 Box Score

CHICAGO - Aaron Dehn threw 7.0 innings and earned the win in game one, while Matt DiLeo collected four hits and two RBIs as the Oakland baseball team (3-14, 1-5) split a doubleheader at UIC (7-10-1, 4-2), winning the first game 6-4 and losing the second game, 14-4.

"We played very well today as a team," said head coach John Musachio. "Execution in a couple areas really needs to improve quickly because those small areas create big innings for our opponents as we saw late in game two. It was 2-2 in the seventh inning and we didn't execute simple plays that opened flood gates."

In game one, Oakland jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first as Zach Sterry drove home Mike Brosseau with a single to right-center field. The Golden Grizzlies added two more runs in the second inning as DiLeo hit a RBI-double and later scored on a Flames error.

The Flames were able to tie the game at 3-3 but the Golden Grizzlies retook the lead in the eighth inning as Robby Enslen scored on a wild pitch. Oakland went up 6-3 in the ninth inning with a Brett Impemba RBI-single and later scored as Sterry hit into a fielder's choice.

Dehn earned his first win of the season tossing 7.0 innings, allowing three runs on eight hits with three strikeouts. Nate Schweers tallied his first career save throwing the final 2.0 innings allowing one run on three hits with four strikeouts.

In the night cap, the game was tied at 2-2 in the seventh inning as UIC opened the game with a five-run inning with two bunt singles for RBIs. The Flames added seven runs in the eighth inning as Carl Sugihara and Tyler Detmer each drove in two runs.

Oakland scored first in the second inning as Ben Hart drove home Tyler Pagano and added to its lead in the fourth as Sterry led off the inning with a double with DiLeo driving him home with a single through the right side. UIC tied the game with runs in the fourth and the fifth on a David Cronin sacrifice fly while Jeff Boehm scoring on an Oakland error.

Tyler Palm suffered the loss throwing 0.1 inning out of the bullpen allowing five runs on four hits. Starter Nate Green took the no-decision tossing 5.0 innings allowing two runs, one earned, on four hits with four strikeouts. UIC's Jack Andersen earned the win throwing 7.2 innings, giving up three runs on seven hits with one strikeout.

The Golden Grizzlies will be back in action against Michigan State on Wednesday at McLane Baseball Stadium at 3:05 p.m. ET.
