BLOOMFIELD HILLS, Mich. - Tamara Blum and Juliana Guevara went 2-0 with singles victories to go with wins in doubles play but it was not enough in Oakland's 4-3 setback to Milwaukee Saturday evening at the Bloomfield Tennis and Fitness Club in the home opener for the Golden Grizzlies.

Oakland started with victories at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles to capture the first point of the match, as Blum paired with Elizabeth Guy to win first at No. 2 doubles, 6-2. After Milwaukee responded with a win at No. 1 doubles, Guevara and teammate Karine Celis broke the Panthers' serve late to win 6-4.

In singles action, Milwaukee tied it up with a straight-set win at No. 5 singles before Blum outlasted Milwaukee's Dana Shannon in a 6-2, 7-6 (7-5) straight-set win at No. 3 singles. Blum twice served for the match but was broken each time by Shannon forcing the tiebreaker, where Blum prevailed in an exciting match.

Guevara then closed out a straight-set win in No. 6 singles, 6-4, 6-0. Guevara made good on a late break of service in the first set before cruising in the second set.

Needing one more point to claim the match, Oakland was unable to thwart Milwaukee's efforts at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, turning all eyes on No. 4 singles. There, Milwaukee's Alysa Straub outlasted Oakland's Guy 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 to earn the team win.

The Golden Grizzlies are back in action Sunday, March 22 at 4:30 p.m. when Oakland hosts Green Bay at the Bloomfield Tennis and Fitness Club.
