DAYTON, Ohio - Brett Impemba recorded two hits and Matt DiLeo collected three RBIs as the Oakland baseball team (2-12, 0-3) dropped the series finale to Wright State (11-6, 3-0), 11-4, Sunday afternoon at Nischwitz Stadium.
"We are looking to put today behind us," said coach John Musachio. "We did not execute to our abilities this weekend. We need to refocus on the week ahead."
The Golden Grizzlies scored four runs in the ninth inning as DiLeo hit a bases-loaded double down the right-field line to score three runs and later scored on a groundball by Ben Hart.
Wright state scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning as Gabe Snyder singled to right field and Michael Timm drove home a run with a sacrifice fly. The Raiders pushed its lead to 4-0 in the third as Ryan Fucci and Sean Murphy each recorded RBI-singles.
WSU took control of the game in the fifth inning with a four-run inning led by a RBI-double by Jason DeFevers.
Collin Gee suffered the loss tossing 3.0 innings allowing four runs, three earned, on four hits with two strikeouts. Wright State's Luke Mamer earned the win tossing 6.0 shutout innings, allowing four hits with two punch outs.
Oakland is scheduled to play its home opener on Wednesday against Cleary before continuing Horizon League play on Friday for a three-game series at UIC.
