ORLANDO, Fla. - Juliana Guevara was one of four Oakland players to earn a doubles victory and add a straight-set win in singles action with her wins at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles as the Golden Grizzlies captured their first team win of the season against NAIA powerhouse Davenport Monday afternoon at Star Island.

Guevara paired with Cam Sabourin at No. 3 doubles to post an 8-3 victory and then went on to defeat Bridget Barrett at No. 6 singles, 6-3, 6-2. Sabourin added her own straight-set win with a 6-4, 6-1 victory at No. 1 singles.

Tamara Blum and Elizabeth Guy parlayed their 8-2 victory at No. 2 doubles to keep momentum in singles action. Blum registered a 6-2, 6-0 victory at No. 3 singles while Guy won in straight sets at No. 4 singles, 6-2, 6-2.

Karine Celis was convincing in her win at No. 2 singles with a 6-0, 6-1 victory. Camille Hemond-Hill outlasted Angelica Woods at No. 5 singles in a third-set tiebreaker, 6-4, 0-6, 13-11.

The match featured NAIA team scoring, which awards one point for each doubles win as well as singles victories.

Oakland's match against Northwood (Fla.), originally scheduled for Monday morning, was not played.

The Golden Grizzlies continue play in the Sunshine State Tuesday, Feb. 24, when Oakland challenges Bethune-Cookman at 1:30 p.m.
