INDIANAPOLIS -- Oakland junior guard Kay Felder has been named the Horizon League Men's Basketball Player of the Week, announced by the league office on Monday.
Felder scored a career-high 38 points in Oakland's 97-83 win at Washington on Saturday going 14-of-27 from the field and 8-of-11 from the foul line, while also recording nine assists, six rebounds and one steal. He scored 25 points in the first half on 10-17 shooting. The win was Oakland's eighth overall against a Power-5 opponent and first since 2011 when it defeated Tennessee inside the O'rena.
Felder ranks second in the NCAA with a scoring average of 25.9 points per game and leads the country in assists per game with 8.9. His player of the week nod is the third in six weeks this season.
The Golden Grizzlies (7-3) are off to their best start in the Division I era and have won four consecutive games. They return to action on Tuesday night against No. 1 Michigan State at the Palace of Auburn Hills on ESPNU with tipoff scheduled for 7 p.m.
