LATE UIC RALLY UPENDS OAKLAND, 8-7

CHICAGO - Robby Enslen went 2-for-4 with a home run and Trent Pell finished 3-for-5 with a RBI as the Oakland baseball team (11-31, 6-17 HL) fell to UIC (24-24, 17-12 HL), 8-7, Friday evening at Les Miller Field at Curtis Granderson Stadium.

"Our boys played their hearts out tonight," said coach John Musachio. "I couldn't be more proud."

Oakland led 6-4 going into the eighth inning, but UIC rallied for four runs to lead 8-6 as John Coen had an RBI-single followed by a three-run home run by Mickey McDonald. OU made a comeback in the ninth inning as Ian Yetsko singled to left field to plate Zach Sterry to cut the lead to one, but were unable to score the game-tying run.

The Golden Grizzlies scored first with two runs in the fourth inning led by a Trent Drumheller RBI-single to center field. The Flames responded in the bottom half of the inning to take its first lead on a three-run home run off the bat of Conor Philbin.

Enslen would give Oakland a 5-2 advantage in the seventh inning with a three-run home run to left field to plate Pell and Drumheller. It was Enslen's fourth long ball of the season. OU added one more run in the eighth inning as Spencer Marentette scored on a bunt single by Pell.

OU starter Tim Koons threw 6.0 innings, allowing three runs on eight hits with eight strikeouts for the no-decision. UIC's Mitchell Schulewitz earned the win tossing 1.2 innings in relief allowing one run on two hits and two strikeouts.

Oakland finished the game with seven runs on 13 hits with one error, while UIC had eight runs with 12 hits and no errors.

Oakland and UIC will play the rubber match of the three-game series on Saturday beginning at 1:05 p.m. ET at Les Miller Field at Curtis Granderson Stadium. It will be the final regular season game for both teams
