April 6, 2014

Box Score

MILWAUKEE, Wis. - Zach Sterry went 2-for-4 with a run scored, while Ian Yetsko drove in a run as the Oakland baseball team (4-17, 0-6 HL) fell in the series finale to Milwaukee (9-12, 4-2 HL), 8-2, Sunday afternoon at Henry Aaron Field.

"We made too many mistakes, mental and physical today," said coach John Musachio. "When you hit a rough patch like we have over the past dozen games, where you lose close game after close game, you begin trying to do too much. That is when you make mistakes."

UWM would score a run in the second inning off a Nick Unes RBI-single followed by Derek Peake scoring on a passed ball in the third inning. Milwaukee added to its lead in the fourth inning as Mike Porcaro drew a bases loaded walk, then Unes would drive in his second run of the game in the fifth inning on a sacrifice fly to make the lead 4-0.

The Golden Grizzlies cut the lead in half in the sixth inning as Mike Brosseau scored on a wild pitch, followed by Sterry scoring on a ground ball to shortstop off the bat of Yetsko.

The Panthers would put away the game in the seventh inning as they scored four runs as Tyler Hermann, Peake and Porcaro each drove in a run for the final score of 8-2.

Starter Jake Paulson took the loss throwing 4.1 innings giving up four runs, two earned runs, on eight hits and striking out a batter, while UWM's Justin Langley earned the win throwing 6.0 innings, giving up two runs on six hits with three strikeouts.

Oakland finished the day with two runs on seven hits with two errors and Milwaukee recorded eight runs on 13 hits while committing one error.
