OAKLAND DROPS TWINBILL AT MILWAUKEE, 4-3 and 4-3

MILWAUKEE, Wis. - Mike Brosseau finished 2-for-4 with a home run in game one, while Jared Theisen went 2-for-2 and drove in a run in game two as the Oakland baseball team (4-16, 0-5 HL) suffered a two-game setback at Milwaukee (8-12, 3-2 HL), with both games ending with a score of 4-3, Saturday afternoon at Henry Aaron Field.

"We had great opportunities today with ninth inning leads and let both slip through our fingers," said head coach John Musachio. "Our young men are learning quickly that every game in the Horizon League is going to go down to the wire."

In game one, the score was tied 2-2 in the top of the ninth inning until Jake Morton drew a bases-loaded walk to give the Golden Grizzlies a 3-2 advantage. Milwaukee would win the game in the bottom half of the inning as the Panthers scored on a wild pitch followed by a Sam Hammer walk-off single to right field.

Down 1-0 in the fourth inning, Brosseau would give OU its first lead of the afternoon blasting a two-run home run to left field. It is his first career home run and the third for the Golden Grizzlies this season.

Jason Hager started for Oakland throwing 7.0 innings, allowing two runs on four hits with five strikeouts. UWM's Brian Keller threw 8.1 innings giving up three runs on four hits with four strikeouts.

In the nightcap, the Golden Grizzlies once again held a 3-2 advantage going into the bottom of the ninth inning. The Panthers loaded the bases and tied the game as Mike Porcaro bounced into a 4-6-3 double play that allowed Dan Barwick to score from third. UWM would win on a fielding error by the first baseman to on the next play to take the game 4-3.

Oakland trailed 2-0 until it cut the lead in half in the sixth inning on a Theisen RBI-single to right-center field. OU would take the lead in the seventh as Brosseau drove in Trent Pell with a ground ball to shortstop followed by a single down the left-field line by Zach Sterry to score Brosseau.

Starter Tim Koons threw 6.0 innings allowing two runs on three hits with five strikeouts. Milwaukee starter Cody Peterson threw 6.0 innings allowing just one run on seven hits with three strikeouts and four walks.

Oakland combined for six runs on 15 hits with three errors, while Milwaukee finished with eight runs on 13 hits and committed two errors.

The Golden Grizzlies will finish the three-game Horizon League series on Sunday at Henry Aaron Field starting at 1 p.m. ET.
