OAKLAND LOSES SLUGFEST TO CENTRAL MICHIGAN, 16-10

ROCHESTER, Mich. - Robby Enslen went 4-for-5 with four RBIs, while Jared Theisen and Trent Drumheller each drove in two runs as the Oakland baseball team (7-26) lost a slugfest to Central Michigan (27-18), 16-10, Wednesday afternoon at the OU Baseball Field. The teams combined for 26 runs on 31 hits in the contest.

Trailing 14-2 in the sixth inning, Oakland closed the gap in half with a six run inning. Brett Impemba started the rally with a RBI-double to left field followed by a RBI-single by Zach Sterry. Enslen would drive in two runs with a single up the middle, then Theisen hit a single to score a run and Drumheller had a sacrifice fly to plate the final run of the inning.

OU added a run in the eighth inning as Drumheller grounded to the first baseman to score Enslen, and he would drive in the final Oakland run with a sacrifice fly to center field in the ninth inning.

CMU jumped out to a 14-1 lead behind an eight-run fifth inning that saw the Chippewas tally seven hits including both Noel Santos and Tyler Huntey with two-RBI singles. Central Michigan led off the game with three runs in the top of the first inning behind a two-run home run by Cody Leichman.

Oakland finished with 10 runs on 14 hits with four errors, while Central Michigan had 16 runs on 17 hits and committed three errors.

The Golden Grizzlies will be in action this weekend as they take on Valparaiso in a three-game Horizon League series beginning on Friday at 4 p.m. ET.
