Milwaukee, Wis. - Karine Celis was a two-time winner for the second straight outing, but her effort was not enough as Oakland women's tennis dropped a 5-2 decision to Milwaukee Saturday afternoon in the team's first conference contest since joining the Horizon League. The Golden Grizzlies slip to 4-9, 0-1 on the year, while Milwaukee improved to 5-7, 1-0.

Oakland had the early advantage after wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles to secure the doubles point of the dual. Celis and Juliana Guevara posted a 9-7 victory at No. 1 doubles, while teammates Tamara Blum and Elizabeth Guy were convincing in an 8-3 win in the No. 2 doubles slot. The tandem of Cam Sabourin and Maxime Colen just missed on the sweep, falling 9-7 at No. 3 doubles.

The Golden Grizzlies were unable to keep steam in singles play, as Milwaukee got four straight-set wins to rally for the team win. At No. 2 singles, Celis battled for a 6-1, 5-7, 11-9 tie-breaker victory, her second such win in as many outings. Tamara Blum also forced a third set before falling at No. 3 singles, 6-3, 6-7, 10-5.

Oakland wraps up its Horizon League debut swing through Wisconsin when the Golden Grizzlies face Green Bay Sunday, March 23 at 11 a.m. ET.
