STATESBORO, Ga. - Brittany Prior and Erika Polidori each had one of the team's two total hits in the game as Oakland (1-3) dropped a 7-0 decision to host Georgia Southern (2-1). Erin Kownacki (1-1) pitched all six innings for the Golden Grizzlies, earning six strikeouts through 30 batters faced.
"They're - in my opinion - a top 25 team with some outstanding pitching," said head coach Connie Miner about the defeat. "They lost to Tennessee, the number one team in the country, 1-0 so they're a solid team. We had opportunities and hit some balls deep and I thought it was a better game against that team. It's always disappointing when you don't score but we'll keep getting at it and keep getting better."
OU never quite got going in this second game of the day as the Eagles got off to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning. Three more runs would be added in the third and two more in the fourth for which Oakland had no answer.
Oakland will play one game tomorrow against No. 1 Tennessee. The first pitch is scheduled for 10:30 a.m.
