BOCA RATON, Fla. - Juliana Guevara won her third consecutive singles match Wednesday against FAU, winning in a tie-breaker at No. 5 singles, however Oakland had a two-game winning streak stifled by the host Owls, 6-1.
Guevara dropped her first set 7-6 before coming back in the second set, 7-6 in her favor. The tiebreaker battled back and forth until Guevara prevailed, 10-8.
Karine Celis forced a tiebreaker set at No. 2 singles before falling 4-6, 6-2, 1-6.
FAU (2-5) took the first point of the day, winning at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. Oakland's Guevara and Celis prevented the sweep, as they led 6-3 at No. 1 doubles before the point was decided. The Owls then took four singles matches in straight sets to capture the win.
Oakland concludes its trip through Florida Thursday, Feb. 27 when the Golden Grizzlies travel to Stetson for a 2:30 p.m. matchup.
