JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. - Erika Polidori led the team with four hits in seven at bats including a double and Erin Kownacki (1-3) pitched all six innings of the first game with just three hits given up as Oakland (1-6) dropped both games of its first day of the Buccaneer Challenge at Betty Basler Field.

In the first game, the Golden Grizzlies recorded more hits than Siena (1-0) with a 4-3 advantage but none would come to fruition in the one-run contest. Siena got on the board in the bottom of the third inning after a stolen base and a sacrifice fly and Oakland was unable to find the equalizer in the game. Kownacki struck out six while only walking two batters.

The nightcap would prove a much better showing for the Golden Grizzlies at the plate with 11 total hits, but OU was still topped by the host Buccaneers (4-5), 4-3. ETSU got off to a quick start with two runs in the first and third innings to lead 4-0. OU responded in the top of the sixth on a handful of singles and runs scored by Sarah Hartley, Morgan Muron and Shannon Cleveland.

Laura Pond pitched three innings in the second game, giving up four runs on four hits with four strikeouts. Kaley Waalkes came in to relieve and gave up just one hit in three innings pitched, refusing to allow any further ETSU runs.

Oakland rounds out the tournament on Sunday looking to even up with Siena at 10 a.m. and ETSU at 2 p.m.
