CMU Defeats Oakland, 13-9

ROCHESTER, Mich. - Todd Dunham blasted two home runs and went 3-for-5, with two runs batted in, and Mike Brosseau finished 2-for-4, with two runs scored and two RBIs, to lead Oakland (14-29) in a 13-9 loss to Central Michigan (22-25) on Wednesday at the OU Baseball Field. The Golden Grizzlies banged out 12 hits in the game.

"Today we played a lot of different people," said OU coach John Musachio. "We did some things well and have some good things to build on for our upcoming series with Omaha."

Brett Impemba had a pinch-hit double in the eighth inning to drive in two runs and spark a four-run inning. Ted Lilley tallied his first collegiate base hit and Mike Carson went 1-for-2, with one RBI and two walks.

Leading 7-5 heading into the seventh inning, the Chippewas capitalized on three walks, a bunt single and a two-out double to left-center field by Tom Lally to plate four runs and take a commanding 11-5 lead.

CMU tacked on another run in the eighth inning to lead 12-5, but the Golden Grizzlies fought back with four runs in the bottom half of the eighth. Brosseau drove in a run and Impemba knocked in two as the deficit was cut to three, 12-9.

The Chippewas scored another run in the ninth inning and left-handed closer Matt Trowbridge slammed the door shut with two strikeouts.

OU scored nine runs, on 12 hits and had two errors, while CMU scored 13 runs, on 17 hits and committed one error.

The Golden Grizzlies will host Omaha in a Summit League four-game series this Thursday-Saturday. The teams will play one game tomorrow at 4:30 p.m., a doubleheader on Friday, starting at 2 p.m., and a single game on Saturday at 4:30 p.m.
