ROCHESTER, Mich. - Erika Polidori and Whitney Weston each recorded base hits as the Oakland softball team (5-17-1, 1-10) fell in a Summit League series finale game to Fort Wayne (23-8, 7-0), 7-0, Wednesday at the OU Softball Field.

IPFW scored the first three runs of the game in the top of the second inning as Megan Flenniken hit an RBI-double, while Kayti Hanson and Larissa Franklin each drove in runs. The Mastodons extended their lead in the top of the fifth inning as they added four runs led by a two-RBI double by Hillary Kartman.

Laura Pond (0-9) suffered the loss throwing 4.2 innings, giving up seven runs, four earned on nine hits and struck out two batters. Erin Kownacki came in relief and threw 2.1 shut-out innings and struck out three batters. Fort Wayne's Miranda Kramer (16-3) earned her third win of the series as she gave up only one hit in 5.0 innings and struck out four batters.

The Golden Grizzlies will continue their home stand on Friday as they host South Dakota in a three-game Summit League series at the OU Softball Field with a doubleheader starting at 2 p.m.
