TULSA, Okla. - Tim Ryan, Nolan Jacoby and Jason Hager all earned a spot on The Summit League All-Tournament Team, the league announced on Saturday. The Golden Grizzlies went 1-2 at The Summit League Tournament and finished in third place.
"Tim, Nolan and Jason are all very deserving of this recognition," said head coach John Musachio. "Tim and Nolan came through with big time hits when we needed them, and Jason's ability to throw one of his best games of the year during the tournament, speaks volumes about the toughness and determination of these young men."
Ryan, a senior from Saginaw, Mich., went 4-for-12 at the plate to hit .333 over the three games at the tournament. As the leadoff hitter for the Golden Grizzlies, Ryan had a .429 on-base percentage, scored three runs and picked up one RBI. On the defensive side, he threw out two runners at the plate and had a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage. He became the all-time leader in games played at OU with 207 appeareances for the Blak and Gold, including starting every game of the tournament.
Hager, a sophomore left-handed pitcher from Swartz Creek, Mich., went 1-0 on the mound for Oakland at the tournament. He scattered eight hits for two runs and had six strikeouts in eight innings of OU's 4-2 win over Southern Utah. With the win, Hager improved to 5-0 against Summit League opponents this season.
Jacoby, a junior from Crystal Lake, Ill. was the designated hitter for Oakland and hit .300 at the tournament. Jacoby had three hits, including a two-RBI single that plated the winning runs in the Golden Grizzlies' win over Southern Utah. Jacoby led Oakland with a .462 on-base percentage for the week, reaching base six times over the course of three games.
The Golden Grizzlies have reached The Summit League Tournament five times in the school's history. That includes two times in the last three seasons under Musachio.
