Aaron Cieslak Named Summit League Player of the Week

ELMHURST, Ill. -- Oakland's Aaron Cieslakwas named The Summit League Baseball Player of the Week, announced by the league office on Monday. The senior from Dearborn, Mich. wins the award for the first time in his career.

Cieslak was 8-for-13 in the Golden Grizzlies' weekend series against Appalachian State. In the opening game of the series, Cieslak was 4-for-4 with three doubles and a home run, driving in four runs. He followed that up with two hits in each of the final two games of the three-game series.

Over the weekend series against the Mountaineers, Cieslak had five extra-base hits for a .615 batting average and a 1.154 slugging percentage. Cieslak drove in six runs and scored five times, while stealing two bases.

For the week, Cieslak hit .364 over the course of five games, as Oakland also faced Michigan and Western Michigan during the week. He is now leading OU with a .313 batting average for the season and leads the team with five home runs, 19 RBIs and a .563 slugging percentage.

After starting the year with 24 consecutive road games, Cieslak and the Golden Grizzlies will return to the friendly confines of the OU Baseball Field for a midweek game against Western Michigan at 3 p.m.
