ROCHESTER, Mich. -- On Wednesday, Oakland (6-23) will host Central Michigan (14-18) in a midweek baseball game at the OU Baseball Field at 3 p.m. The Golden Grizzlies have won three of their last five games.

Golden Grizzlies Notes

  • Jeff Gorecki was named The Summit League Player of the Week on Monday.
  • Gorecki went 8.1 scoreless innings in a 2-0 shutout win over Oral Roberts in the Summit League series opener. It was only the second time ORU has been shutout by a Summit League foe.
  • Oakland pitcher Russell Luxton finished the week with three saves for the week, giving him all four saves for OU this season.
  • Starter Hayden Fox went five scoreless innings in OU's 4-1 win over ORU on Sunday.
  • By earning a series split with ORU, Oakland snapped the Golden Eagles streak of 39 consecutive home series victories, the longest such streak in the nation.
  • Mike Carson had six hits, including a home run and a game-winning two-RBI hit that accounted for the only two runs of the game against ORU. He drove in a total of five runs against ORU.
  • Carson regained the team lead in batting average at .313 for the season.
  • Tim Ryan picked up his 200th career hit as an Oakland player last week, making him just the third OU player in school history to go over the 200 hit mark.
  • Ryan has 72 stolen bases and is just eight shy of tying the OU school record.
  • Aaron Cieslak continues to lead Oakland with a .530 slugging percentage with five home runs and 11 doubles. He also leads OU with 19 RBIs.
  • Spencer Marentette drove in four runs over five games last week.
  • The Golden Grizzlies are 5-28 all-time against Central Michigan.
  • Oakland is 2-0 as the home team this season.
  • Wednesday is the first of two meetings between Oakland and Central Michigan.
  • OU has played two top 25 teams in Vanderbilt and Louisville and two teams from the BIG EAST in Louisville and Cincinnati.
  • 13 different players have a hit for OU this season, while 16 different pitchers have toed the rubber, including 11 different pitchers against Vanderbilt
