EAST LANSING, Mich. - John Estes hit his first career home run in a 10-1 loss for Oakland (3-16) to Michigan State (13-7) on Sunday at McClane Stadium. Aaron Cieslak was 2-for-4 to extend his five-game hitting streak for the Golden Grizzlies.
Estes put Oakland on the board with a home run over the right field fence in the third inning. It was the only run of the game for the Golden Grizzlies, who had seven hits, but was hurt by hitting into three double plays.
Michigan State took the lead with a five-run second inning and never trailed. The Spartans outhit Oakland 9-7, but also took advantage of five Oakland errors, while adding three runs in the sixth and two more in the seventh.
Starter Brady Adamek (0-2) suffered the loss for Oakland, while Mike Theodore (2-1) went seven innings to earn the win for MSU. Oakland's Bryan Jagielo came on and pitched two scoreless innings of relief and has yet to allow an earned run this season.
Oakland is back in action with a game at Michigan on Tuesday at 3:05 p.m .
