ROCHESTER, Mich.
- Reggie Hamilton tallied 30 points and went 14-for-14 from the free-throw line, while Corey Petros and Drew Valentine added 16 and 13 points, respectively, to lead Oakland (20-15) past Rice (19-16), 77-70, in the quarterfinals of the CollegeInsider.com Postseason tournament on Tuesday night inside the Athletics Center O'rena. The Golden Grizzlies led the entire game and outscored the Owls 25-7 from the foul line.

"I'm as happy as I can be, as I told the team in there, we made it to a final four," said OU coach Greg Kampe who picked up his 490th win tonight. "No team in our league has ever done that. Another thing that I am pleased with is we got our 20th win tonight, which is four straight seasons of 20 or more wins. That is quite remarkable for a program that plays who we play."

Ryan Bass was the final Oakland player in double figures, finishing with 10 points, four assists and four steals. OU failed to make 10 threes in a game for the first time in seven contests, going just 4 of 18 from behind the arc (22.2%).

Oakland set a new Summit League record with three postseason wins and will now play the winner of the Loyola Marymount-Utah State game which will take place tomorrow night at Utah State. OU reached the 20-win plateau for the fourth straight season, which matches a program-best set in the final years of Division II (1993-97).

Tamir Jackson led Rice with 16 points and Dylan Ennis finished with 14 to round out double-figure scorers for the Owls. RU outrebounded OU 39-36, but the Grizzlies scored 17 points off 12 turnovers by the Owls.

The Golden Grizzlies raced out to a 19-point lead in the first half on 57 percent shooting and led 48-30 at halftime. The Owls came out of the break on a 10-3 run through the first four minutes to get back within single digits, 51-42. The Grizzlies pushed the lead back to 13, but Rice countered with a 7-0 run to close the gap to six points, 55-49, with just under 13 minutes left in the game.

OU's lead would then shrink to just three points, 65-62, after an 11-3 run by the Owls. The Golden Grizzlies extended their advantage to nine points and Valentine made a pair of free throws to ice the game late to advance the Golden Grizzlies to the semifinals of the CIT tournament.
