YPSILANTI, Mich. - Junior Aaron Wick finished 2-for-3 to lead the Oakland University baseball team (17-29) as they dropped a non-conference game to Eastern Michigan (25-24), 17-1, on Tuesday night at Oestrike Stadium.
Junior left-handed pitcher Kasey Kearcher (1-1) tossed 2.1 innings, surrendering six runs, six earned runs, walked four and struck out one in the loss. EMU used nine different pitchers in the game.
EMU's Brent Ohrman led the way offensively, going 3-for-5 with three runs batted in. Zack Leonard finished the game 2-for-3 with two runs scored and drove in four.
Sophomore John Estes got the Golden Grizzlies on the board in the top of the second inning on a bunt single to drive in sophomore Aaron Cieslak who reached on a single as OU led early, 1-0.
The Eagles would strike for six runs in the third inning as Ohrman drove in two with a double as the Grizzlies trailed 6-1.
After three more runs in the fourth inning for EMU, the Eagles would tack on eight more in the eighth inning, highlighted by Leonard's bases clearing double which drove in three top close out the scoring.
OU will host IPFW in a four-game Summit League series this weekend, May 14-16. First pitch will be at 3 p.m. on Friday at the OU Baseball Field.
