ROCHESTER, Mich. - Sophomore John Estes went 2-for-4 as the Oakland University baseball team (5-20) lost 11-1 to Eastern Michigan (15-18) Wednesday afternoon at the OU Baseball Field.
Eastern Michigan took the early lead off a solo home run in the first inning. In the third inning, sophomore Tim Ryan blasted a triple to right center field. Estes laced a single up the middle to score Ryan.
EMU used a hit and an error to score once in the fourth. In the fifth inning, five hits and three errors led to the Eagles scoring five runs to seal the game.
Ryan had a triple to extend his reaching base safely streak to 30 straight games. Junior Mark Leichtman (0-2) gave up three hits, five runs, none of them earned, walked one batter and struck out one batter and in one and 2/3rd innings.
For Eastern Michigan, Bo Kinder went 2-for-4 and scored three runs while Brent Ohrman was 2-for-5. Steve Weber (2-1) gave up four hits, one run, walked one and struck out five batters in five innings.
Oakland remains at home, playing South Dakota State, Friday, Apr. 16. The game is scheduled to start at 3:00 p.m.
