MOREHEAD, Ky. - Sophomore Leah DiCristofaro went 4-for-6 with three doubles and drove in three runs as the Oakland University softball team (6-13) beat IPFW 6-5, and Georgetown College 5-1 at the Morehead State Tournament, Sunday morning.

Oakland staked out a 2-1 lead over IPFW before the bats came alive in the bottom of the fourth inning. Freshman Erin Galloway led off with her first career home run, a shot to dead center field. Junior Danielle Peters and senior Anne Cicchini each collected singles. A sacrifice bunt moved Peters and Cicchini to third and second, respectively.

Senior Katie Dreyer walked to load the bases with two outs. Senior Haley Emerson hit a ground ball that was mishandled by the infield. When the dust cleared, Peters and Cicchini had scored, Dreyer was at third and Emerson was on second.

DiCristofaro singled up the middle to score Dreyer and make it 6-1. IPFW would score two runs in the sixth and seventh innings. In the bottom of the seventh with two runners on and two outs, the Golden Grizzlies got the Mastodon batter to fly out to left field to end the game.

DiCristofaro went 2-for-3 and drove in two runs while freshman Alivia Nikolaus had two hits. Junior Marisa Everitt (1-2) gave up six hits, three runs, all of them earned, walked four batters and struck out seven in seven innings of work.

Against Georgetown College, Oakland scored a run off of a sacrifice fly in the opening inning. Georgetown would score a run in the third to tie the game. In the fourth inning, DiCristofaro doubled to right field and scored off an error to make it 2-1.

In the fifth inning, with two outs, Oakland went double crazy. The Golden Grizzlies got doubles in four consecutive at-bats from Dreyer, Emerson, DiCristofaro and freshman Dani Dulberg. The doubles produced three runs to make it 5-1. OU surrendered just two hits the rest of the way.

DiCristofaro and Dreyer had two hits each while Emerson drove in two runs. Sophomore Brittany Doyle (4-7) gave up three hits, one run which was unearned, walked four batters and struck out five in seven innings.

Oakland opens up the conference season, Mar. 12-13, on the road against Centenary College. The doubleheader on Friday is scheduled to start at 5:00 p.m.
