MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Junior Tommy Jablonski went two-for-three as the Oakland University baseball team (1-4) lost 7-1 to Memphis (3-6) Saturday afternoon.
Memphis scored two runs in the bottom of the first to take an early lead. The Tigers would add three more in the fourth to push the lead to 5-0.
In the top of the sixth, sophomore Tim Ryan led off with a walk followed by junior D.J. Jarrad getting hit by a pitch. Jablonski dropped in a single to load the bases with no outs. Sophomore Aaron Cieslak lifted a deep fly to left field that allowed Ryan to score.
A walk to junior Ryan Waldhart loaded the bases once again for the Golden Grizzlies. Memphis got a strike out and a line out to get out of the innings. The Tigers would score twice in the bottom of the sixth to seal the game.
Sophomore Kyle Teague (0-2) gave up nine hits, five runs, all earned and struck out three batters in four and 1/3rd innings of work. Oakland closes the series out, Sunday afternoon, with a single game scheduled to start at 2:00 p.m.
