BLOOMFIELD HILLS, Mich. - Sophomores Karen Karoub and Caitlin Young battled hard at No. 1 doubles, but it wasn't enough to propel the Golden Grizzlies as the Oakland University women's tennis team (0-6) fell 7-0 to Wayne State (7-2) Saturday afternoon at Bloomfield Tennis and Fitness.
Karoub and Young fell 8-5 in No. 1 singles, while junior Amanda Pettey and sophomore Caryn Shermetaro fell 8-4 at No. 3 singles.
In singles action, Oakland was unable to take a set, though Young and junior Jackie Dinicu fought to 6-2, 6-3 decisions at No. 2 and No. 3 singles, respectively.
The Golden Grizzlies will look to rebound when they host another home match on Monday, March 29 against Niagara at Bloomfield Tennis and Fitness. The match is slated for a 12:30 p.m. start.
