DAYTON, Ohio - Freshman Todd Dunham and junior Ryan Waldhart each hit a home run as the Oakland University baseball team (1-6) lost 12-5 to Wright State, Friday afternoon.
In the second inning, sophomore Aaron Cieslak was hit by a pitch. Waldhart then blasted the ball over the right field fence to make it 2-0. Wright State scored eight runs over the next four innings to take an 8-2 lead.
The Golden Grizzlies mounted a comeback in the eighth inning. Sophomore Tim Ryan singled and moved to third on a double from junior D.J. Jarrad. Following a pop out, Dunham sent a 0-2 pitch over the left field wall to close the gap to three, 8-5. The Raiders would score four in the bottom of the eighth to effectively end the game.
Sophomore Matt LaMothe (1-2) gave up seven hits, six runs and walked two batters in four innings of work.
Oakland will play a doubleheader against Dayton on Saturday, Mar. 13 and a single game against Indiana State on Sunday, Mar. 14. Those games are scheduled to start at noon and 10:00 a.m., respectively.
